DIY #14 Explorer Style

Here is an Explorer style kit from Bad Cat Instruments. The body and neck are mahogany, and I used the same blended Keda Wood Dye that I made up for my DIY #12 Strat style kit. The gold hardware really sets this off. It has a set neck, and was surprisingly easy to build. Being an Explorer body shape, it isn’t the most comfortable to hold or play. I don’t know who ever thought that hockey stick headstock was a good thing.

I won this kit in an auction in a Facebook group run by one of the US marketing people for Bad Cat. It was fun, and interacting with that group was fun as well. Later on, I won an auction for a Les Paul kit, one of the best I’ve ever built.
