DIY #11 ES-335 Style

I really wanted to try a hollow-body ES-335 style kit and found a very good selection at Pango. So, I picked one out, ordered it, and got pretty excited about it. Big mistake.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM PANGO!

To make a long story short, the flamed maple top had several issues, wrong parts were sent, there was a whole lot of things misaligned, and the tuning machines that were stamped as “Grover” were cheap fake junk knockoffs. But the biggest problem by far was the ridiculous and rude customer service. You can read some of that in my articles on AxeKit.com.

This has a flamed maple top dyed blue with Keda Wood Dye and finished with clear lacquer. The maple back and sides, the set neck, and the maple fingerboard are all finished with Tru Oil Gunstock Finish. I replaced the fake “Grover” tuning machines with Graph Tech Ratio Machine Heads. I bought the set designed for acoustic guitars and used D’Addario EXL-110W electric guitar strings with a wound third (G).

Considering the box of crap I started with from Pango, this came out very, very nice. But again, I stress:
