Here is my first time building a guitar completely from parts and not from a kit. This came about because of the glue residue issue on the flamed maple top of DIY #4. The manufacturer sent me a replacement body, but it was actually worse than the original. So, I took that replacement body, ordered a nice maple neck, then gathered the rest of the hardware and components from various sources to build this “partscaster” guitar.
The purple color is from a blend of Keda wood dyes. The flamed maple top was so bad with the glue residue that I decided to make a white “burst” effect with white spray paint, then finished it with clear lacquer. The back is black stain and Minwax wipe-on poly. In the end, it was a pretty nice guitar but, as with the original kit from Muslady, not comfortable to play.
