DIY #4 Double Humbucker Kit

This kit, branded as “Muslady,” came from Walmart. The unusual shape was a bit challenging and is also uncomfortable to play. The top is flamed maple and had a lot of glue residue that I had to try to work around. It is dyed with yellow Keda wood dye and then finished with Tru Oil Gunstock Finish, which gave it a kind of gold color. The body is basswood, my first attempt to work with that material. The back is stained black with Minwax Wipe-On Poly over it. The maple neck and headstock also has yellow Keda Wood Dye and Tru Oil Gunstock Finish.

This guitar has two humbuckers with a 3-way selector switch, a master volume and master tone control.

I decided to use the string-through holes on the bridge, but not having a drill press the back of the body was a mess. So I found a black ferrule bushing to cover it up. This took a lot of work because of the glue residue and several miss-matched parts, but all-in-all it came out very well.
